MMA glove FAQs

What's the difference between MMA, grappling and sparring MMA gloves?

Competition MMA gloves (around 4oz) have thin padding and open fingers so you can strike and grapple. Grappling gloves have even less padding for maximum grip. Sparring or hybrid MMA gloves (around 6–7oz) add extra padding over the knuckles to protect you and your training partner in practice.

How do I pick my MMA glove size?

MMA gloves are sized by hand size (for example S, M, L, XL) rather than ounces. Check the sizes available in the options above and any size guide in the description or images. If you're between sizes or plan to wear hand wraps, go up a size.

Can I use MMA gloves on a heavy bag?

Light bag work is fine, but MMA gloves have much less padding than boxing gloves. For hard, regular heavy-bag sessions, boxing or bag gloves will protect your hands better.

Do I need hand wraps with these gloves?

Yes, we recommend always wearing hand wraps under boxing gloves. They support your wrists and knuckles and help keep the inside of your gloves cleaner. Wraps add a little bulk, so keep that in mind when choosing a size.

How do I look after my gloves?

Open them up and let them air-dry after every session, away from direct heat or sun. Wipe the outside with a damp cloth and mild disinfectant, and use glove deodorisers or dry inserts to keep them fresh. Don't leave damp gloves in your gym bag.

What if I order the wrong size?

You can return unused items in their original packaging within 30 days of delivery. Contact us at info@mmaboxing.com.au with your order number and we'll help you sort out a return or exchange. Return shipping is paid by the customer unless the item is faulty or we sent the wrong one.
