Boxing glove FAQs

What size (oz) boxing gloves should I get?
As a general guide by body weight: under 45 kg, 8–10oz; 45–65 kg, 12oz; 65–80 kg, 14oz; over 80 kg, 16oz. For sparring, most gyms ask for 14oz or 16oz regardless of your weight, and kids usually wear 4–8oz. The sizes available for this glove are shown in the options above.
What's the difference between bag gloves and sparring gloves?
Bag and training gloves are built for hitting pads and bags, with firmer padding that holds its shape. Sparring gloves have softer, thicker padding to protect your training partner. If you only want one pair for general training, a 14oz or 16oz all-round training glove covers both.
Velcro or lace-up gloves?
Velcro (hook-and-loop) gloves are quick to put on and take off by yourself, which suits most training. Lace-up gloves give a tighter, more custom fit around the wrist but need someone to tie them, so they're mainly used for competition and pro sparring.
Do I need hand wraps with these gloves?
Yes, we recommend always wearing hand wraps under boxing gloves. They support your wrists and knuckles and help keep the inside of your gloves cleaner. Wraps add a little bulk, so keep that in mind when choosing a size.
How do I look after my gloves?
Open them up and let them air-dry after every session, away from direct heat or sun. Wipe the outside with a damp cloth and mild disinfectant, and use glove deodorisers or dry inserts to keep them fresh. Don't leave damp gloves in your gym bag.
